Retractable Awnings in Essex

Full-cassette, Somfy-motorised awnings surveyed and fitted across Essex by our own team — from our Barking showroom just inside the M25.

Essex gardens are generous by London standards. South-facing, often open on two sides, and fronted by a patio that gets used hard every summer. The awnings problem here isn't space — it's wind, UV, and keeping a high-quality fabric looking sharp after a few seasons of coastal air.

Premier Awnings installs across Essex from our base in Barking. That means a real survey from a real surveyor, manufacture in the UK, and a fit by our own installers — not a national chain franchisee. For homes in Chelmsford, Brentwood, Billericay, Colchester, Southend and everywhere between, we're typically on site within 20 to 60 minutes of the A12 or A127.

We fit full-cassette systems with integrated wind sensors as standard — important in Essex given how exposed the gardens are. All motors are Somfy; fabrics are Sunbrella or Dickson acrylics with a 5-year colourfastness guarantee.

Homes we fit across Essex

New-build estates in Brentwood, Basildon and the Dunton Hills corridor tend toward wide-span rear elevations with mixed brick and render — ideal for a 4.5m full-cassette awning with drop valance. For the older Tudor-revival and 1930s semi stock across Chelmsford and Epping, the cassette profile and colour are chosen to blend with the eaves line rather than shout over it.

Coastal Essex — Southend, Westcliff, Frinton, Walton — has its own brief: salt air, stronger wind loadings, and UV exposure about 15% above inland norms. We spec marine-grade fabric (Sunbrella Marine) and IP-rated motors for anything within 2 miles of the coast as a matter of course.

Rural-Essex barn conversions and farmhouse extensions in the Rodings, the Colne Valley and around Dedham often need custom colour-matching to fit listed or conservation settings. We colour-match to BS or RAL on request.

Questions we're asked in Essex

Do you cover all of Essex?

Yes. From Epping and Loughton in the west to Clacton and Harwich on the coast, and everything between. We schedule coastal and north-Essex work in batches to keep survey and fit lead times predictable.

Are your awnings suitable for coastal Essex?

Yes — and we change the spec accordingly. For installations within 2 miles of the coast we use marine-grade Sunbrella fabric, stainless-steel fixings, and IP-rated motors to cope with salt air. No price premium on most ranges.

Can you fit an awning to a new-build with composite cladding?

Yes. Composite and render walls need a specific fixing approach — usually a timber or steel spreader bar behind the cassette. Our surveyor will photograph the wall construction and confirm the fixing spec in writing before manufacture.

What's the typical lead time for Essex installs?

4–6 weeks from deposit to fitted. Survey typically within a week of enquiry, manufacture takes 3–4 weeks, fit is scheduled within 7 days of arrival at our warehouse.
