Sevenoaks gardens are the kind awnings were designed for: generous, established, south or west facing more often than not, and attached to houses with the wall space to carry a serious projection. The constraint here is rarely size — it is getting the system to sit right on the building.
That matters more in Sevenoaks than in most of Kent. The stock runs from Knole-adjacent period property and Arts and Crafts houses through substantial inter-war detacheds in Riverhead and Dunton Green to newer executive builds off the A25. Ragstone, tile-hung elevations, deep eaves and rendered extensions all take different fixings, and a bracket choice that is fine on a modern cavity wall is not fine on a soft ragstone façade.

Conservation areas cover a meaningful part of the district, and there is a good deal of listed property in the villages — Otford, Kemsing, Seal, Chipstead, Brasted and Westerham in particular. We survey those with the constraints in mind from the outset: discreet brackets, a frame colour that recedes rather than announces itself, and a retracted profile that tucks under the eaves. If your project needs consent we will tell you at survey rather than after you have paid a deposit.
Fabric choice inland is mostly about fade resistance and how the colour reads against the house. Italian Tempotest is solution-dyed acrylic, so the colour goes through the fibre rather than sitting on it. We bring the full sample book to the survey.
